I saw this table on pintrest.

I showed my dad the table, and the blog that explains how to make it. He said he thought it was do-able and that he would make it!! What!?!?
Well, when I got to my parents house I found my dad out in his shop with the wood for MY TABLE!
My favorite part of this project (besides that my dad is making our dinning room table) is that the lumber has a story! My dad got the 2x10's from a job he is working on. They are demolishing an old warehouse on Fairchild Air Force Base, that was originally built in the 1930's! These were support beams.
He is going to stain it dark, similar to the finish on the original project I showed him. And even though this lumber was originally used in the 1930's, it can still use some "antiquing."
He is also going to incorporate the original 1930's hardware into the table. Adding the antique bolts and fasteners to the joints. Giving the table additional character. How cool is that!?
I love that our dinning room table will be handmade by my dad. Not to mention the price is much better than this Restoration Hardware table that looks strangely similar...
