We have a wall!

Chris showed his parents our new neighborhood and...he discovered that we have a wall!

UW Spring Football

Chris's parents came to visit this weekend. It was so nice to have them here :)

We went to the Husky Football Spring game.

Cooper's first of MANY husky events.

Growing...

12 weeks...16 weeks...19 weeks

I am still feeling pretty great. The nerve pain went away, until recently when it came back with a vengeance...so I now have a massage/physical therapy appointment next week.

Tulip Festival

This weekend was very relaxing and full of sunshine and warm temperatures! Chris is enjoying a long break between semesters, and I made an effort to only work on homework on Saturday. Sunday was dedicated to the sunshine and spending time with each other. Since neither of had ever been to the Tulip Festival, we decided Sunday was the perfect day to go. Apparently, so did the rest of Western Washington...oh well.

Lesson learned: listen to Chris when it comes to directions. I usually do not drive when we are together, but since I have been super sensitive to getting car sick, I have been the driver lately. Welp, I typically go with the follow the mob of cars mentality. My thoughts for doing this: "All those cars MUST be going the shortest, fastest way." (The really scary thing is, I am pretty sure my mom has said the exact same thing...I am slowly becoming Melva Pryor) WRONG. Once I caved and went Chris's way, we avoided the masses and scored excellent parking. So on the way home Chris drove. It all works out better that way.

Any who... the Tulip Festival is BEAUTIFUL and something to see, but it was crazy busy. I think I can wait for a few years before I return.

It's a...

BOY!!! We found out on Friday April 20th that we are going to be the parents of a little BOY! His name is:

Cooper Christopher Layton

Chris came up with the name Cooper and I love it as well. His middle name is obviously after his father :) We could not be happier about our growing little family. It is amazing.

Exterior Paint

A few weeks ago we selected our exterior paint. I love it! Here is a photo of a house (the front looks much different than ours) with the same colors I selected. This house is in a different part of the neighborhood, and I'm glad it was there so we could see what the color looked like in natural light. In real life, I think the base color looks much more gray, not so blue, but you get the idea.

While we were up there, we decided to check on our lot. The footings were in and the foundation was ready to pour!

Chris went up there yesterday, and he said it looked like the foundation was done. Our front steps were there! I can't wait to see the progress. We will get to see it this weekend :)

Happy Easter!

Right after my parents left, my friends showed up for Easter brunch. Huckleberry pancakes, bacon, an egg dish, coffee cake, fresh fruit (of course, I can't live without it right now), and a nummy salad a la Fuller.

Great conversation. Sunshine. Amazing food. Thanks friends.

Happy 30th Matt Bode!

One of Chris's best friends (mine too, really), Matt Bode turned the big 3-0 in March. His wife, Lianna, invited us and the Grants to go to Vegas to celebrate his birthday. It was a great time!

Chris has wonderful friends and I am so thankful they married such amazing women. I am glad to have them as friends.

We stayed at The Hard Rock. I really liked it. We hung out in the sun and took in some much needed vitamin D., and 80 degree weather!

We had a great mexican dinner at The Pink Taco. Then hit up the town...which means we played some black jack, walked around the strip, and we were in bed by midnight.

Thanks for the limo ride Grants!

Happy 30th Matt! We look forward to celebrating many more birthdays!!

Spring Break 2012

We stayed at home for my spring break this year, and it was GLORIOUS!

We completed our design options for the interior of our house.

My parents came to visit for four days. It was so great to have them here!!! On their way into town, I met them in Snoqualmie to show them the lot for our new house. Look what I saw when we got there!!!

They are digging our foundation! I'm glad my parents got to see where our new home will be. Most importantly, my dad could give me the low down on what they are doing.

For three days, my awesome parents helped me with tons of things around the house. My mom cleaned all  the wood blinds, packed 15 boxes with stuff we will not need until after we move, deep cleaned my entire kitchen including my stove and fridge. My dad completed my "honey-do" list: replaced dog-chewed moulding, fixed our kitchen table, washed all the windows (inside and out)...and lots of other things dads are really good at doing. We were so busy packing and spring cleaning, I failed to take any pictures.

The older I get, the more I realize how amazing my parents are. They are the most hardworking, generous people I know. I love them. THANKS MOM AND DAD!

First trimester...check!

                12 weeks               16 weeks (4 months!)

I can not believe I am through the first trimester already! A few things I would like to document about the first four months:

  • NO puking! I am one lucky mama to be. I never threw up, nor did I feel like throwing up. There were days I did not feel super great and a little nauseous, but not very bad at all.
  • Car sickness. I could not handle being in the car for a long time. I soon discovered I needed to be the driver.
  • Extreme fatigue. I was exhausted. I wanted to sleep for daaaayyyss. I did not feel like working out (and I use this term lightly), not even a little walk. I just wanted to sleep.
  • Cravings. Nope. Not really anyway. I definitely had some foods and beverages I did NOT want though, including:
    • Coffee. This SHOCKED me, I really thought I couldn't live without coffee. I didn't want anything to do with coffee, even decaf, once I was pregnant.
    • Beer and wine (obviuosly, I was not planning on drinking these anyway). This includes the smells. Chris had to enjoy his micro brews from afar.
    • Spicy and salty foods. WHAT!? These are staples in my diet. I wanted nothing to do with them...evidently this kiddo has Chris's taste in food.
  • Okay, maybe a few cravings...
    • Fresh fruit. Can't get enough.
    • Ice cold juice and smoothies.
    • Plain bland foods. More evidence this babe is taking after Chris.
    • A slightly more intense sweet tooth. I am usually a person who will pick a bag of salt and vinegar chips over a bag of Skittles. Not lately.
  • Sciatic nerve pain. This isn't super bad but when it acts up it is pretty uncomfortable. Good news? Prescription prenatal massage and physical therapy.
  • What to wear? Since I was trying to hide my growing belly until 4 weeks ago it was very tough to find something to wear. I am too small for maternity and too big for my regular clothes. Thank goodness leggings, tunics, and flowy tops are in.

Now on to the next trimester! I am already feeling more like myself! :)
