In the eye of the storm

I feel like I am in the eye of the storm right now.

Some of the craziness has passed. Our new house is well under way and scheduled to be completed on time! We should have our keys August 10th! Here is the current state of the house. It is not painted yet, and we will have rock where the poles are supporting the roof in front of the door and to the left of the garage.

Our current house is packed (as much as it can be), staged, and on the market. A majority of my Masters work is complete, with only my final project left! I turn it in July 13th!!! Teaching is done (for the time being) my classroom is packed, report cards done, school key turned in.

For now it is calm.

And, I am completely enjoying it because I realize these days are numbered. Once our little man arrives, spontaneous afternoons filled with Starbucks coffee fraps and pedicures will be a distant memory.

Pedicures.
Shopping.
Gettin' my hair did.
Walking.
Yoga.
Naps.
Reading (for fun!).
Visiting family and friends in Spo.
Friend time in Seattle.

I am beginning to realize this list may also be why so many people say to teachers, "But you have summers off!" Touche.

But I can see the craziness is just around the corner. We will have (hopefully) a little over a month to get settled into our new house and prepare for Cooper's arrival. Granted, I am fortunate not to have to work while we do this, but I will be nine months preggo. And then COOPER will be here!! :) A few nursery items I am excited to say are purchased!

Thank you for the crib Grandma and Grandpa Layton!
We picked up the matching dresser. The furniture looks black in these photos, but in person it's dark-stained wood.

  1. Enjoy this time! You are right, some of those things will be a distant memory (okay, that's a lie, I still sneak away for coffee and pedicure from time to time, it just takes a smidge more planning). And who knows, "mommy brain," makes your forget a lot of things...so you may not remember any of it-ha! Totally joking-ish:) Nonetheless, when you get to hold your little boy, it is worth every last bit of it!!!
