There will be times when your toddler does something so mean your heart breaks into a million pieces. "My child can not possibly be that cruel?!" But he really did that, you saw it with your own eyes. Like that time Cooper pushed another kid off the playground equipment. Or pushed his sister intentionally just to get your attention. In his head bad attention is ATTENTION. While the guilt of not having enough of you to go around sinks in.
Your toddler will bring home a cold and share it with the baby. Well before you are ready to see your baby sick.
There are days that you feel like you have this whole "mom of two kids" down, it's not that hard, I can do this! There are days that you think, " Holy shit. What. Were. We. Thinking."
You will be amazed at the things you can do while breast feeding at the same time.
You will learn to multitask like never before. Sometimes with great success. Like that time I took cooper to his little gym class with Adeline in the Ergo without a single incident. No tantrum. No tears. No stress for mom.
There will be times when things fall through the cracks. Like that time I showed up at 8:30 for my 8:00 postpartum doctor appt and had to reschedule. Yeah.
Your house will be messier than it has ever been before. Accept it. Embrace it. Move on! (Still a work in progress for me)
You will find yourself trusting your toddler more than you did before the arrival of baby. Can Cooper go down the stairs alone? Yeah. He's got this. Right? Hell, he has to. I can't stop him now.
There will be days you feel guilty that your husband has to deal with the tantrum-throwing-toddler (again) because you are nursing the baby.
There will be a day when your toddler finally connects with his new sibling. Like for real. An unprompted gesture, comment, or look that will melt your heart. In that moment you see why all this chaos is worth it.
