Adeline's First Month

Wow. Time goes quickly with one kid, now with two I feel like I am in a time warp. Our little girl is already a month old.

Weight: 10.3 pounds
Clothes: Newborn/ 3 month
Diapers: Newborn/ size 1

This to note about your first month, Dear Adeline:

  • You are such a sweet little lady. Truly. You don't cause a fuss unless you really need something, and even then it doesn't take long to figure out what that something is.
  • Your brother shared his cold with you when you were only FOUR WEEKS OLD! You were an absolute trooper despite not being able to breathe well through your nose. This makes sleeping and eating tough on a wee babe, but you never fussed about it! I was worried that our teeny little babe was sick, but your calm demeanor made me feel so much better.
  • You were able to get to know Dr. Nirmal (our pediatrician) very well, since I was so worried about our one month old having a cold. Even while sick you managed to gain a pound in ONE WEEK! You are growing waaaay to fast.
  • You are sleeping SO well at night. You sleep for 2-4 hour stretches, wake up to nurse, and then right back to sleep you go. You go to bed around 10 and are up around 7. You mostly maintained this schedule even when you were sick!
  • You seem to be a schedule when it comes to napping. Its funny how hard I tried to force your brother into a schedule and failed. Then you come along and just do it all on your own. You take really long naps, like 1-3 hours long! It is my saving grace, girl. Keep it up!
  • You have thigh rolls! I love every little crease of them.
  • You look like you will have blue eyes and your dark hair appears to be growing in blonde. Could it be that our little girl will be blue-eyed, blonde, and dimple faced?!?
  • Your legs are starting to lose that precious newborn-fold-up-real-tight-like-you-are-still-in-my-belly thing. Tear.
I have been so so lucky to have help this first month! Grandma Mel and Nana both came and stayed for extended stays in order to help our family with the transition and of course- get to know you!

You actually really enjoy your baths, and you remain calm even after getting out.

Your brother's life has changed considerably. He is doing okay with sharing his mom and dad. There are good days and bad days.

Cooking with Grandma

This is not the best picture, but when you (Adeline) were sick we did a lot of this… Grandma or Nana held you while Cooper did his thing.

Your big brother is starting to warm up to you now. He asks to hold you.

He gives you kisses. These moments make my heart so full.
