First trimester...check!

                12 weeks               16 weeks (4 months!)

I can not believe I am through the first trimester already! A few things I would like to document about the first four months:

  • NO puking! I am one lucky mama to be. I never threw up, nor did I feel like throwing up. There were days I did not feel super great and a little nauseous, but not very bad at all.
  • Car sickness. I could not handle being in the car for a long time. I soon discovered I needed to be the driver.
  • Extreme fatigue. I was exhausted. I wanted to sleep for daaaayyyss. I did not feel like working out (and I use this term lightly), not even a little walk. I just wanted to sleep.
  • Cravings. Nope. Not really anyway. I definitely had some foods and beverages I did NOT want though, including:
    • Coffee. This SHOCKED me, I really thought I couldn't live without coffee. I didn't want anything to do with coffee, even decaf, once I was pregnant.
    • Beer and wine (obviuosly, I was not planning on drinking these anyway). This includes the smells. Chris had to enjoy his micro brews from afar.
    • Spicy and salty foods. WHAT!? These are staples in my diet. I wanted nothing to do with them...evidently this kiddo has Chris's taste in food.
  • Okay, maybe a few cravings...
    • Fresh fruit. Can't get enough.
    • Ice cold juice and smoothies.
    • Plain bland foods. More evidence this babe is taking after Chris.
    • A slightly more intense sweet tooth. I am usually a person who will pick a bag of salt and vinegar chips over a bag of Skittles. Not lately.
  • Sciatic nerve pain. This isn't super bad but when it acts up it is pretty uncomfortable. Good news? Prescription prenatal massage and physical therapy.
  • What to wear? Since I was trying to hide my growing belly until 4 weeks ago it was very tough to find something to wear. I am too small for maternity and too big for my regular clothes. Thank goodness leggings, tunics, and flowy tops are in.

Now on to the next trimester! I am already feeling more like myself! :)
