Sleep. Apparently, kids can "regress?" For some reason I had this silly idea in my head that once kids figured out how to sleep on their own through the night, that they always do it. Well at least most nights. HA!!!!
You went through a rough. rough. week or so of not sleeping. Naps were a struggle, if they happened at all. Nighttime did not even remotely resemble what it looked like a month ago. You woke up every HOUR! Once you woke up, you did not want to go back to sleep. You would cry and cry. You refused to sleep anywhere but in my arms. I finally conceded and stopped trying to put you in your crib, and I just let you sleep with me on the couch. It wasn't the most restful sleep for me, but at least it was sleep.
I am SO grateful I did not have to get up and go to work after those long nights. Hats off to you working mamas!
The last few days you have started to get back on your regular sleeping schedule:
1-3 naps a day (30 mins - 3 hours in length)
Bedtime around 8:00 pm
Wake up around 5:00 or 6:00 am
(may wake up 1-3 times in the night, but you eat and fall right back to sleep)
Look at how much you have grown!!
2 days old.....six months old
Still no teeth, but your random sleeping pattern and unusual crankiness makes me think they are not far off. (I know I have said this before, but one of these times I am going to be right!)
Chewing on everything...
We started solids! The first thing you had was rice cereal - you thought it was alright. Then peas - you didn't really love them, I think it was the texture that you didn't like. I have been making your baby food and I had a hard time getting the peas REALLY smooth. Most recently you tried squash and you LOVE it! Squash is much easier to prepare.
I enjoy making your food. So far it has been really easy. I steam the veggies (I baked the squash), then puree in the food processor. (This step can only be done when Dad is home to hold you and take you to another part of the house with noise to drown out the sound of the food processor. If you hear it, you scream in terror. It is very sad.) After the veggies are pureed, I plop them into ice cube trays. Freeze them over night. Then pop them out and put them in a zip lock baggie.
You are eating one "meal" a day consisting of one cube of a veggie mixed with breast milk.
Auntie Stone feeding you.
Here are videos of Mom and Dad feeding you for the first time!
(sorry, the videos are long, boring -for people other than Cooper's parents- and far away)
You found your feet and LOVE them. Makes diaper changing exciting.
Bath time is fun for all.
We saw the sun! It has since gone back into hiding.
You are starting to like your jumper more and more every day!
Morning giggles.
At your 6 month appointment the doctor said, "Wow, he is acting like he wants to walk before he crawls. Try to get him to practice sitting and being on his tummy so he will crawl first." Kiddo- you have a mind of your own. You want to stand!
Here I am trying to get you to sit inside the boppy...
There ya go! You can sit by yourself for short periods of time. :)
You continue to reveal your personality to us. You are very active and "chatty." You roll around. You like to roll onto your tummy and then get frustrated that you can't move around. You will spin in circle on your tummy trying to get somewhere.
We love you so much!! You definitely keep things exciting around here.
Here is a little insight into a photo session with a six month old.

He is getting so big! I can't believe how much he has changed in the month since I have seen him. Can't wait for quality snuggles this weekend :)
ReplyDeleteOk, so I might have shed a bit of a tear on this one. When you are writing it to Coop its a little too much amazing for me to handle! Love that he will get to read this when he is a young chap.
