NYC in December

Chris planned a wonderful trip to New York City to watch the Huskies play at Madison Square Garden and of course experience the city during the Holidays. It was a wonderful trip. I would not have changed a thing about it...well, maybe I would have changed the out come of the basketball game.

We took a redeye out of Seattle on Thursday night. We got settled into our hotel (Le Meriden)
around 11:00 AM and went straight to Carnegie Deli for lunch.

We walked from lunch to Rockefeller to see The Tree, take in the sights and do a little skating.

Chris's sister, Keri, and her husband Peter, also came to NYC to watch UW and visit friends. The matching scarves was a coincidence.

After skating we met up with our friend Nate, who now lives in New York, at the McSorley's. It is the oldest continuously operating Tavern in NYC. They still serve the same beer they have brewed for years. The options are light or dark. That's it.

Chris and I then went to dinner in Little Italy. I LOVE Italian food.

We decided we needed to see The Tree at night. It was much cooler. The crowds at night are unbelievable though! There is no way we would have tried to skate at night.

Day #2 - Game Day

UW vs. Duke - Madison Square Garden

We needed a little lunch, New York Pizza sounded perfect. I had an upside down slice.

Peter and Keri's friend, who works for Chase, invited us to see where he works. Pretty great views.

The Empire State Building

After taking in these great views, we went to check out the Christmas Bizarre at Bryant Park.

Then we headed to the East Village to meet Nate and Christy for dinner. After another delicious meal we walked through Time Square and checked out the windows at Bergdorf's before heading to bed.

Day #3

The view from our room. If you look really hard, you can see Central Park between the buildings. The location of our hotel was great!

We slept in. It was glorious. The last time we were in New York City (in September 2008) Ground Zero was still a hole in the ground. At that time there were pictures of what the memorial might look like, but it was very informal. It was quite moving to see what it looks like now. The Freedom Tower is amazing. We looked through a little of the memorial, but we did not have time to wait in line to see everything. We will never forget.

Then we went for a long walk through Central Park. It was cold, but BEAUTIFUL!

Thank you Chris, for planning an incredible trip! Even though we were only there for three days, I felt like we got to do and see everything we wanted to. I love visiting NYC, but I am always glad to come back to the Pacific Northwest.
